In this four-day virtual workshop we’ll explore the importance of a book’s first 20 pages. I know this importance firsthand. My agent used the first 20 pages of my debut novel A Land More Kind Than Home to interest the editor who ended up publishing the novel as well as my next three. Each week I’ll break down the opening pages by writers like Amor Towles, Emily Henry, Toni Morrison, and others while discussing how they work to hook readers. Each workshop will close with a writing exercise based on that day’s lessons to get you writing on your own. All workshops will be recorded and shared for those who can’t attend live.
